BMW M Series Description :

The 2007 BMW M or "Motorsport" series is a comprehensive line of luxury vehicles including a sedan, coupe, and convertible as well as the Z4 M Coupe and Z4 M Roadster. The great appeal of the M series is its obvious descent from racing vehicles. You're going to find some serious power under the hood, with the M5 and M6s sporting a five-liter V10 that produces 500 horsepower. Move into the Z4s and you'll get 330 horsepower from a 2.3-liter six cylinder. All the models have RWD. Clearly, though, the SMG is most effective and transparent when pushed very hard, and given the M5's performance potential, this is impossible on public roads. Visually, the M5 doesn't set itself apart too dramatically from the current non-M 5 series upon which it's based, but is discernable by larger standard wheels; front, side, and rear lower body enhancements; more aerodynamic side mirrors; four chrome-tipped exhaust outlets; and a side vent adorned with an M logo ahead of each front door. In darker colors, such as the Indianapolis Red Metallic of our test car, the effect is positive: the car looks purposeful, but it didn't draw much attention from other drivers or passersby

Engine

Hyundai Cars






Introduction


We're afraid Hyundai has gone off and done something rather rash. This Korean automaker has decided that its basic recipe for success -- building affordable vehicles with plenty of value and quality -- is entirely scalable. The result is the 2011 Hyundai Equus, a large, $60,000 premium sedan that will no doubt raise a few eyebrows from both consumers and rival car companies alike.
Most other mainstream automakers have created separate brands to sell their luxury cars, just as Toyota did with Lexus, for example. But Hyundai believes that such premium brands also attract buyers motivated by affordability, and its impressive Genesis sedan seems to be proving that Hyundai can compete with established luxury brands because the price is right. The 2011 Hyundai Equus looks to do the same, offering far more space and equipment than other competing luxury sedans. In some ways, you're getting the equivalent of a loaded $104,000 Mercedes-Benz S550 for the price of a lightly equipped Mercedes E550.
How much equipment do you get exactly? Beyond all the expected convenience features, the V8-powered Equus gets quite possibly the most comprehensive supply of standard equipment available on any car not badged as a Maybach or Rolls-Royce. Standard Equus features like a massaging driver seat, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a 17-speaker surround-sound audio system are usually options on even high-end luxury cars. Hyundai even plans to supply Equus owners with an Apple iPad as a standard feature, which will function as a sort of interactive owner's manual and maintenance minder.
Underneath its stately bodywork, the 2011 Hyundai Equus is based on the Genesis platform, but it's been enlarged to provide limousine-like interior room. The Equus comes standard with the 4.6-liter V8 that's optional equipment for the Genesis sedan, and it's good for 385 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque. Although this engine certainly delivers all the power you really need, it doesn't have the same low-rpm grunt as the V8s in other full-size luxury sedans. Rumor has it that Hyundai will replace the 4.6-liter V8 next year with a more potent 5.0-liter V8.
Even with this minor demerit, the 2011 Hyundai Equus is a genuine competitor to other luxury sedans, both midsize cars like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class and flagships like the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class. The Equus is solidly engineered, remarkably quiet and indulgently comfortable, and that's on top of its exceptional feature content and relatively affordable price. While some will turn away because this car shares its badge with non-luxury automobiles, open-minded drivers (or those looking for luxury without flaunting it) will find the 2011 Hyundai Equus to be an intriguing vehicle.

Skoda








Skoda Auto is presenting a comprehensive portfolio of second-generation environmentally-friendly GreenLine cars at the Paris International Motor Show. For the Skoda Yeti, a compact SUV, and the Skoda Superb Combi the introduction of ecological technology means two world premieres. Modern engines and new technology that Skoda Auto offers as a part of its attempts to minimise the car industry’s impact on the environment are now available to drivers across all model ranges. They offer not only Simply Clever solutions such as a start-stop system and braking energy recuperation, but also top-quality engines utilizing the latest technology that provide for environmentally-friendly and economical running of a car.
The 1.6 TDI CR 77 kW (Skoda Octavia, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Superb) and 1.2 TDI CR 55 kW (Skoda Fabia and Skoda Roomster) engines are top-quality technology focused on making cars as economical and environmentally-friendly as possible. Like all other diesel engines offered by Skoda Auto, they are equipped with particle filters. Both drive units offer smooth, quiet running and dynamic handling. The engine units are economical and flexible thanks to supercharging and direct fuel injection; the harmonious torque curve enables both a sporty and a comfortable ride. Maximum torque of 250 Nm is available from 1,500 min to 2,500 min for the 1.6 TDI CR engine, for the 1.2 TDI CR engine the torque reaches a maximum of 180 Nm at 2000 min.
Design measures in second-generation GreenLine versions lead to marked fuel savings and a significant reduction in CO2 emissions. The Skoda Fabia GreenLine and the Skoda Fabia Combi GreenLine have combined consumption of only 3.4 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 89g/km. The Skoda Roomster, a compact MPV, has a consumption of 4.2 litres per 100 kilometres, a record in its category. CO2 emissions are 109g/km, which is also a top parameter in this class.
The Skoda Octavia GreenLine is supplied as a hatchback and a combi. The hatchback version has combined consumption of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 99g/km; the combi will travel 100km for 4.2l with CO2 emissions at 109g/km. This therefore makes the Skoda Octavia GreenLine one of the most environmentally-friendly cars in its segment. The Skoda Yeti proves that SUV-category cars can be economical and environmental-friendly. Despite the larger front area, the GreenLine version offers combined consumption of only 4.6 litres per 100 kilometres (119g/km of CO2). Even with these low values, the Skoda Yeti GreenLine remains a very agile car. It accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in only 12.1 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 176km/h.
GreenLine versions are also offered for the top-of-the-range Skoda Auto cars, the Skoda Superb and now the Skoda Superb Combi. Both versions have combined consumption of only 4.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres, with CO2 emissions of 114g/km.
With the GreenLine models Skoda Auto has created a highly modern range of cars with extraordinarily low consumption, even in classes to which almost no attention has been paid until now in terms of consumption. There are eight different versions with at least one car in each model series.


Suzuki Cars






The all new 2011 Suzuki Swift is on its way to India. We give you an insight into what Maruti's much loved supermini has in store for you this time around
With a sales figure of almost 12,000 units per month, the Maruti Suzuki Swift is undoubtedly one of the most successful small cars in the country today, even at the tether end of its life cycle. So it comes in as no surprise that Maruti Suzuki will stick to a proven formula and therefore, to the naked eye, the all the new Swift headed for India looks more or less similar to the outgoing one. But in reality the new Swift has evolved, for the better of course. 
To make things easy, we have created a few graphics that compare the older Swift with the new one, so you aren’t confused when you see the new car in the showrooms this June. Despite its familiar shape, the new Swift has got a plenty of design tweaks. Starting off with the swept back headlights, the new units extend further back into the body and are much larger. They still stick to the single-barrel formula though, with a single bulb taking care of the upper and dipper tasks. The new grille, though retaining its older shape, gets the Kizashi-esque honeycomb mesh treatment and extends itself slightly into the leading edge of the bonnet. The air-dam attracts prominence with swooping creases borrowed from the Kizashi and adds character to the front bumper. The top end variant will feature fog lamps with contoured black surrounds. 
Move to the side profile of the car and the Swift’s extended dimensions are visible to the keen eye. The car’s wheelbase is up by 50mm and the overall length longer by 90mm. The wheel arches are bigger, bulgier and incorporate 16” wheels. India however, will get 15” rims with higher profile tyres for increased ride comfort on our rough roads. Increased suspension travel on the Indian model could make the large wheel wells appear empty though, similar to the new Wagon R. The glasshouse on the new model is narrower towards its tail as compared to the outgoing model and offers a coupe-ish look.
The tailgate gets new taillights which are increasingly swept back too. They get a clear lens treatment for the blinker and reverse lights with red surrounds for the brake lamps, reflectors and tail illumination. The boot lid is stubby like the one seen on the Maruti Suzuki A-star and has an overhang above the number plate. The rear bumper gets a generous dose of creases, while the rear fog lamp sits at bottom centre in trademark Swift style. 
The European model gets sporty front seats with increased side bolsters. The Indian model however, could get the same, flatter bucket seats that the current Swift is shipped with. The increased length of the car has made more room inside the cabin, but don’t expect a significant gain. The lack of rear seat space that the older Swift was accused of has been addressed to an extent in the new model with a wider seat and better padding. Adding to the comfort is increased leg and knee room. The headroom continues to be tight and with the reseeding glasshouse, the feeling of spaciousness is compromised – ironic for a manufacturer that sells hoax spaciousness with their slew of tallboys. The increased legroom has left little gain for the boot space which now measures 204-litres. 
The interiors are done up in black all around with brushed-aluminium finished plastic inserts to add a hint of premium value. The dashboard borrows design clues from the Kizashi for a smarter centre console and a well equipped steering wheel with switches for audio and cruise control. The latter may not see the Indian roads though. The new Swift also features a push button start-stop system which Maruti Suzuki will consider for India too, since Nissan touts about this feature in their Micra line-up. Also on offer will be a multi-information digital display panel that calculates as displays average and instantaneous fuel consumption and drivable range. 

BMW






As you probably know, the Bavarians from BMW already revealed the new i3 and i8 models at a press conference held few days ago. For now, they presented just the concept version of the models in question but in fact they are pre-production vehicles which will suffer only minor modifications as mass production models. The fully electric BMW i3 is scheduled to hit the dealerships in 2013 while the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 sports car will be available later that year or starting 2014.
BMW i3 Concept
Today, we will discuss on all the important information we got from BMW since now while in the end of the article we will watch some videos where the Germans both presented and explained the first two models bearing the new i badge.
BMW i3 is an urban model designed powered by an electric motor mounted on the rear axle able to deliver 170 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in done is around 8 seconds while the model achieves a top speed of 150 km/h.
Even the model is currently the smallest one in the new i range, it offers a boot capacity of 200 liters and enough space inside for four passengers.
The fully electric i3 can be 100% charged in six hours while using a quick charger it will take just one hour for 80%. The model can run fully electric for 160 kilometers but if you think that this is not enough for you, there is a range extender as optional which will significantly increase the range.
On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 is a more powerful model which enters the sports car segment delivering good performance and impressive fuel efficiency. It comes with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 220 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque alongside a revised version of the electric motor of the i3 for a total output of 349 horses and 550 Nm of torque.
BMW i8 can run fully electric for 32 kilometers while using the hybrid powertrain will significantly increase the driving range. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is possible in less than 5 seconds while it achieves a top speed of 250 km/h.

Volkswagen (VW) unveiled latest update of their famous Beetle. Focusing originality, Volkswagen Beetle 2012 edition boasts longer and wider design aesthetics, with four seats and reclining back to accommodate additional storage.

The 2012 Volkswagen Beetle made its public debut this week at the Shanghai Motor Show and the New York Auto Show.


Volkswagen Beetle 2012 design of the 21st century is developed by Volkswagen Design Team lead by Marc Lichte and under direct supervision by Walter De Silva (Volkswagen Group) and Klaus Bischoff (Brand Volkswagen). There will be three trim options in the UK – Beetle, Design and Sport. Keyless Access, sunroof, satellite navigation, Bi-Xenon lamps and LEDs are lit throughout the day into the new features for the Volkswagen Beetle.
The new Volkswagen Beetle breaks free of the geometry of the previous model and displays impressive sports appeal – primarily in its extended bonnet, sharply swept-back windscreen and a longer wheelbase. Modified interior ergonomics have produced an agile, driver-oriented coupĂ© experience in the new VW Beetle. In addition, the new Volkswagen Beetle offers a distinctly improved feeling of space with its longer roof section.

No previous Beetle was this fuel efficient. High performance no longer suffices by itself: At 4.3* l/100 km (European 1.6 TDI) and 33* mpg (American 2.0 TDI), the new Volkswagen Beetle is the most fuel-efficient Beetle ever.
European buyers will have the choice of four engines ranging from an efficient 1.2-liter gasoline engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged model and a 1.6-liter turbo diesel version. Official options for the U.S. have yet to be confirmed.

While the 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine delivers around 105 horsepower and 65.7 mpg (EU scale) as a result of an intelligent battery regeneration system, the captivative 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine goes on to utilize around 200 horsepower.

Until recently, Mercedes-Benz has not been serious about manufacturing and marketing hybrid cars. In 2010 the company sold just over one thousand hybrid units, representing only 0.6% of the overall hybrid market.
